Mass Communication Residential College

First-year students majoring in the Manship School of Mass Communication can live in South Hall and take classes with the same group of peers, creating a smaller network within the larger LSU campus from day one.

An Unparalleled Experience

The Mass Communication Residential College has dedicated faculty and student staff available in-hall to help with classes, scheduling, and so much more! MCRC residents also have exclusive access to events like Dinner with the Dean, AP Smackdown, and more.

South Hall

Everything students need to be successful is provided in South Hall, including offices where Manship School of Mass Communication faculty advisors hold office hours, a computer lab classroom, multiple group and individual study spaces, outdoor courtyards, and modern two-student, suite-bathroom style rooms in a great location on the west side of campus.

To participate in the Mass Comm Residential College, you must:

  • Must be a first-year student or an undergraduate international exchange student with a declared major in the Manship School of Mass Communication and a concentration in journalism (broadcasting and web/print), digital advertising, public relations, and political communication or pursuing the 3+3 program
  • Enroll in at least two MCRC courses in both the fall and spring semesters
    • Students are required to enroll in MC 2000 in the fall semester and MC 2010 in either the fall or spring semester. These courses will count toward the two required MCRC offered courses for the semester.

During the admitted-student housing application process, select the Mass Comm Residential College as your preferred housing option.

You'll receive notice of acceptance into the living-learning program by the spring, and then you can begin searching for and matching with potential roommates.
