I find value in making people feel valued, cared about, and worth taking up space. I have supervised hundreds of students and over a dozen graduate and professional staff members and showing them how talented and amazing they are, in addition to increasing their competencies in work and in life, is an honor.

"Conflict and navigating it is part of life, and the stakes get much higher than "my roommate turns the light on too early" as you mature." -Kara

Little did you know

I took glass blowing for 2 years in undergrad and was pretty good at it. One of my pieces was selected as an Honorable Mention in the Undergraduate Juried Exhibition my sophomore year, and I sold some of my work at the on-campus holiday sale, so technically I'm a "professional artist".

Advice for first-year students

This is the safest year to pretend to be an adult; your RAs and in-hall supervisors can help you out tremendously, but it's time to start relying on yourself instead of your parents to advocate for you and make good decisions for your life.

My favorite thing to do in Baton Rouge

Baton Rouge might as well be called Brunch Rouge because brunch is a HUGE part of the infrastructure of town. Please stop going to Ruby Slipper so much so I can go and wait in a shorter line!
